Police in Australia had reported that over $85 million of dollars had been lost due to an EFTPOS scam that evolves the usage of spywares being attached in EFTPOS machines at register checkouts. It is discovered that the criminals behind the fraud had paid syndicate members large amount of money for them to install the hidden cams that records the PIN number of the credit cards.
In order to protect yourself and your money from these villains, always remember to cover your hands when you punch in your PIN and any other personal information that you don?t want other to see. Look around your area for any suspicious devices, especially at angles you don?t normally notice and behind large shelves.
If you are still concerned about your information leaking out from EFTPOS machines, our advice is to don?t shop with your card in public. In times like this when crime is high, the best place to shop is online where your privacy is taken very seriously.
